International Walk and Bike to school day is Wednesday, October 8 and Richmond is participating with Stop Walk Bike.
How: Richmond students can participate in any of the following ways:
- Stop Walk for families that travel by car or bus. Park a few blocks away from school or your bus stop and use foot-power the rest of the way.
- Walk, Bike, Skate, Scooter from home to school or your bus stop.
What: Wednesday, October 8, on the way into school there will be walk and bike goodies for all students to encourage walking and biking all year. Students can register for a drawing to win a bike helmet or 30% off tune-ups, compliments of Joe Bike, the local bike shop at the corner of SE Cesar Chavez Blvd. and SE Lincoln St. We will continue to collect names for the prize drawing in a Walk Bike box in room 110 until Friday, Oct 10.
Joe Bike is also offering free minor adjustments, safety checks, and flat repair for any Richmond students that stops in their bike shop between October 8 and 15.
Why: Stop Walk Bike is great for our community!
- Less car traffic means less traffic congestion and pollution near the school.
- More walking and biking means more physical activity and better health.
