On Wednesday October 5th, the Richmond PTA will be dedicating a significant portion of our first general meeting to kick off what we hope will be an extended discussion and effort to improve the seismic preparedness of Richmond and the Richmond Community.
This event will address the following topics:
- Emergency Preparedness at Richmond (drills, school plan, off-site evacuation location)
- What to Expect (description of what happens during and after an event the size of a subduction zone earthquake)
- Individual Preparedness (making a family communication and reunification plan, 5 Things You Can Do, starting an emergency kit)
- Building a Community Resiliency (talking to friends and neighbors, next steps)
Our speakers will include Krista Blovad (Richmond AP), Phil Barber (Richmond Neighborhood Emergency Team) and special guest Rie Nakata (Buckman Neighborhood Emergency Team).
Our meeting will start at 6:30 with approximately 30 minutes dedicated to our general business meeting, then we will begin our special topic. You need not be a PTA member to attend any of our meetings. Childcare will be provided.
Raffle: we have received a generous donation of earthquake preparedness supplies from Division Hardware and will be raffling that starter kit off at the end of the night. You must be a new or current 2016-2017 PTA member to enter the raffle and must be present to win.
